CHAYANNE

Elmer Figueroa Arce (CHAYANNE) was born in June, 28th in 1968 in Puerto Rico. He is the third of five siblings. He is married. His wife is Marilisa Maronese. He has a baby called Lorenzo Valentino. He likes playing tennis and reading a good book. He debuted as a singer at 10 years old, becoming a part of the group “Los Chicos” one of tha most acclaimed groups originating in the decade of 80s, causing a true frenzy among the adolescents.

Chayanne professionally has recorded 14 albums, 5 of these with Los Chicos and 9 other as soloist. In 1987 he recorded for the first time Sony Music International (CBS Records) an album “Chayanne” as: “Tu pirata soy yo”; “Este ritmo se baila así”; “Fuiste un trozo de hielo en la escarcha”.

In 1989 he recorded his second album for Sony also called “Chayanne” as: “Fiesta en América”; “Violeta”; “Te deseo”; “Para tenerte otra vez”. This album was also recorded in Portuguese and resulted in several hits in the Brazilian market.

Other recordings include: “Sangre Latina”; “Tiempo de Vals”; “Si tu te vas”; “Provocame”; “Influencias”; “Volver a Nacer”; “Atado a tu amor”, with this last song he received a nomination for the Grammy Awards in 1998 in the category “Best Latin Pop Performance.
Also he have been as an actor for television for example he recorded the soap opera “Pobre Juventud”; “Sombras del pasado”. As an actor in films “Linda Sara” by Jacobo Morales, with the ex-Miss Universe Dayanara Torres and the film “Dance with Me” with Vanessa L. Williams.

Chayanne for me is an important singer and actor of Central American. His songs have been listening for all the world and the letter of his songs have loved to the youth.
