Germany

Germany is a country situated in the centre of Europe, and borders with France in the west, Denmark and the Baltic Sea in the north, with Poland in the east, and with Switzerland and Austria in the south. Germany is not a big country it's about the same size as Ecuador (30% bigger). Its official language is German, and the capital city is Berlin (founded in the XIII century), nevertheless the government is in Bonn. The main cities in Germany are Hamburg, Munich, Colonia, Frankfurt and Essen.
This is one of the richest countries in the world, and mainly exports chemical products, medicines, machineries, and products related with the transport; its national currency is the euro since 2002. Germans are mainly Protestant but many of them are Catholics, Muslims, and fifteen per cent are not religious. Education in Germany is very good and very prestigious; there we can find the best universities, such as the Munich University. Germany is divided into sixteen states, they call them Landers. Until 1989 Germany was also divided into two countries East Germany and West Germany, the first half under the influence of the URSS, and the other half was under the influence of western governments. The economy of the western half became much stronger than the economy of the eastern half so it was quite expensive for the Federal Republic the reunification.

Germany has many islands for instance the Eastern Frisias, the Fohk islands, Amrun and Pellworm in the North Sea and Rugen, Fehmarn, Usedom and Poel in the Baltic Sea. The north of Germany is flat, and because of the slope, rivers such as the Rin, the Meno, and the Mosela … flow to the north, but many other rivers don’t flow to the sea they reach the Danube which flows to the east and joints the most important navigable rivers of Germany. The centre is not so flat, it’s a bit wavy, and the south has many mountains one of the higest is Zugspitze, that is 2963mts. high. Germany doesn’t have many lakes and the main is the Constanza or Bodensee that is also in Austria and Switzerland.
In Germany the winter is long and cold, the lowest temperature ever registered in the capital is -22°C and the highest is 37°C. The east of Germany is rich in coal, lead, silver, tin, and uranium fields.
