Rafael Correa our President!

Nowadays Rafael Correa is the most important Economist in our Country not only for has this degree at the Catholic University of Guayaquil, it is because he is our President.
After his degree he worked for one year in a mission by the Salesiano's order in Cotopaxi Province, there he acquired some knowledge of Quichua, the language of the most of the native Indian population in our Country.
After this work like a missioner he studied for a Master's degree in Economics from the Université Catholique of Louvain (Belgium) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois (United States) in 2001.

In 2005 Correa, during the Presidence of Alfredo Palacio, was the Finances Minister for four months. In this time he was very popular but also criticized.

In 2006 he was a presidential candidate with his team named Alianza PAIS—Patria Altiva y Soberana, witch collect all of the most important necessities of the poor people in our country and describes himself as a humanist and Christian of the left.

During the campaign, Correa's proposed a CONSTITUEN ASSEMBLY to rewrite Ecuador's constitution. Also his team Alianza PAIS did not has any congressional candidates, as Correa had stated that he would call for a referendum to begin drafting a new constitution. One of facts that I think was the most important for the young and old people in our country.

He has other important and controversial facts like was skeptical of a free trade deal with the United States, or with other International Monetary Fund, he belives that Ecuador had to work to increase Ecuador's cooperation with other Latin American countries, not just with the potential countries.

Nowadays he is our President and I think that is one of the most important presidents that we had in the last 10 years, because he broke with the myth that our Country is imposible to guide or direct; also I think that he is one of few presidents that on his 100 days in goberment had carried with the most of the promises that he did when he was a presidential candidate.
Fot that reasons he had the highest credibility of any official in the administration, with 90% of Ecuadorians saying they trusted him.
